You've been taking classes, reading books, and googling late at night, trying to figure out if you're "ready" for teacher training—or if it's even for you when you're not sure you want to teach.
Maybe you're nervous you haven't been practicing long enough. That you can't do all the poses. That you're not "advanced" enough.
But depth in your practice doesn't come from more drop-in classes or perfecting poses.
You want a training that welcomes you exactly as you are. A space to learn deeply and explore what yoga actually is beyond the shapes.
I blend classical philosophy with somatics, trauma-aware teaching, and nervous system-informed practice. You'll understand yoga on a physical, mental, and subtle body level—grounded in your own lived experience.
Pranayama, meditation, and functional anatomy—integrated so they work together in your body and life.
Training that values breath and meditation just as much as the poses.
Trauma-aware, nervous system-informed teaching. No pressure to perform.
Attention and guidance that meets you where you are through small class sizes (12-15 people per cohort).
The benefits of your practice. First experience the teachings in your own body.
The schedule for this 200-hour yoga teacher training is intentional, giving you time to absorb, apply, and integrate without burnout. The training rhythm is three (3) weekends on, two (2) weekends off.
During off weekends: You’ll complete 2–3 hours of guided self-study and online anatomy learnings, readings, or practice teaching at your own pace.

Hear it from past students...
She taught me instead to “explore my edge” & really feel the benefits of slowing down which brought a totally new dimension to my practice. To “take what works & leave what doesn’t” is something that guides me everyday & every practice.

"Before Alison, I was all about 'push, push, push'."
I have learnt so much about myself, about yoga and about life. I was blessed to have such amazing teachers and peers to be there with me along the way. I am so happy that I faced my own fears and challenges and graduated. I am officially now a qualified yoga teacher.
—KATE
"I've learnt so much about myself."
Remembering when I followed my dream [of becoming a yoga teacher]. You changed my life, love you always.

"You changed my life."
Many yoga teacher trainings focus primarily on posture and performance. This training takes a broader approach.
It blends the foundations of a 200-hour certification with the perspective I’ve developed through my work as a Certified Yoga Therapist, E-RYT 500, Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT), and YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider). My teaching is grounded in nervous system awareness, somatic practice, philosophy, and trauma-informed approaches to guiding students.
Since 2012, I’ve accumulated more than 7,000 hours of teaching experience and have trained over 200 yoga teachers internationally. These years of teaching, mentoring, and supporting students have shaped how this training is designed.
In this program, we spend just as much time exploring inner awareness and practical philosophy as we do learning alignment, anatomy, and sequencing. You’ll learn how to meet people where they are—including yourself.
This training isn’t about getting it right. It’s about showing up with presence, clarity, and care, and learning how to support others without disconnecting from your own experience of the practice.
Apply yogic philosophy as a lived practice
Study classical teachings and ethical frameworks through reflection, discussion, and practice, so philosophy becomes something you embody, not memorize.
Work skillfully with breath, meditation, and subtle practices
Learn how pranayama, mantra, and meditation support regulation, awareness, and integration within both personal practice and teaching.
Teach both Hatha and Yin yoga with confidence
Develop a clear understanding of the distinct methodologies, intentions, and energetic qualities of each style, and how they complement one another.
Sequence intuitive classes that are trauma-aware and consent-based
Learn to build classes that are purposeful and prioritize nervous-system-safety, without relying on rigid scripts.
Integrate teaching skills with self-awareness
Learn how to guide others while staying connected to your own body, energy, and capacity, so teaching supports your life rather than drains it.
Understand the body in movement and stillness
Explore functional anatomy, biomechanics, and alignment principles so you can support students safely across a wide range of bodies and abilities.

the practitioner who wants to understand why yoga impacts them so profoundly
the aspiring teacher who wants to guide from embodiment—not scripts or perfectionism.

Yes. Vidya Yoga Academy is a Registered Yoga School (RYS 200) with Yoga Alliance. Graduates of the program will be eligible to register as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT 200) with Yoga Alliance upon successful completion of the training.
The program is led by Alison Reaume, an E-RYT 500, RPYT (Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher), and YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider). Alison has been teaching yoga since 2010, has accumulated over 7,000 hours of teaching experience, and has trained more than 200 yoga teachers internationally.
Absolutely. Many students join for personal depth, not to teach. You'll gain transformative understanding whether or not you ever step into a teaching role.
You don't need to be. Neither can I. This isn't about performance, it's about understanding yoga as a complete system. I meet everybody and every body exactly where it is.
Yes. Monthly and bi-weekly options available. Full payment required one month before completion.
Your $500 deposit is non-refundable. You may withdraw your enrolment up to 30 days before the start date. After that, no refunds. Growth is guaranteed—teaching is optional.
Yes. Students will be required to purchase a small number of recommended textbooks, which typically range from $75–$125 CAD total, depending on the format you choose (paperback, hardcover, or eBook).
A comprehensive training manual is included with your tuition, and will be provided as part of the program materials.
This program is run part time, in-person, starting May 1 through June, Sep, Oct and Nov, we have three weekends within those months dedicated to in-person intensives.
During off weekends: You’ll complete 2–3 hours of guided self-study learnings, readings, or practice teaching at your own pace.
This program is structured to allow for the likelihood that most students will not be able to make every single class. Life happens, we get sick, we have family items to take care of. While students are encouraged NOT to miss class, homework will be provided in this instance. Missing more than 3 full weekends of the program, however, the student will no longer be able to be certified for missing too much of the program.
This happens. However, we don't issue refunds once the program has begun. Students may be eligible to move to the next cohort as an alternative, and will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
In-person training sessions are held in Maple Ridge at Epic Yoga and Fitness.
