In Yin practice, something shifts when movement stops.
Breath slows.
Attention deepens.
Students begin to notice sensations, emotions, and subtle energetic changes that don’t always appear in faster practices.
Long holds create space for those experiences to surface.
Learning to recognize and guide these moments is part of what makes Yin such a powerful practice.
This training explores the physical, nervous system, and energetic layers of Yin so you can support that depth with clarity, steadiness, and care.

She taught me instead to “explore my edge” & really feel the benefits of slowing down which brought a totally new dimension to my practice. To “take what works & leave what doesn’t” is something that guides me everyday & every practice.

"Before Alison, I was all about 'push, push, push'."
I have learnt so much about myself, about yoga and about life. I was blessed to have such amazing teachers and peers to be there with me along the way. I am so happy that I faced my own fears and challenges and graduated. I am officially now a qualified yoga teacher.

Remembering when I followed my dream [of becoming a yoga teacher]. You changed my life, love you always.

"You changed my life."
Many Yin trainings focus primarily on pose lists or theory. This training takes a different approach.
It combines traditional Yin teachings with the perspective I’ve developed through my work as a Certified Yoga Therapist, E-RYT 500, and somatic practitioner, where understanding the nervous system, individual body variation, and lived experience is essential.
You’ll learn the foundations of Yin—including meridian theory, energetic principles, and intelligent use of props—while also exploring how stillness interacts with the nervous system, emotions, and the subtle body.
We spend as much time developing awareness and perception as we do learning shapes and sequencing. The intention is to learn how to guide Yin with presence, clarity, and care—meeting students where they are while staying connected to your own experience of the practice.
Nervous system informed yin yoga practice
Learn how long holds influence the autonomic nervous system and how to guide Yin in ways that support regulation, safety, and grounded awareness.
Structural variation and functional alignment
Explore how skeletal variation, compression, and stretch influence Yin postures so you can adapt shapes for different bodies rather than forcing uniform alignment.
Prop architecture, hands on support and setup
Develop skill in using bolsters, blocks, blankets, straps, and wall support to create stability, accessibility, and comfort in longer holds. You’ll also explore hands-on guidance and subtle adjustments, learning how to support students physically while maintaining the quiet, spacious quality of Yin practice.
Intentional Yin Yoga sequencing
Learn how to structure Yin classes that move beyond rigid sequencing formulas, balancing energetic intention, nervous system pacing, and the natural rhythm of stillness and release.
Teaching presence and observational skill
Cultivate the ability to read subtle cues in breath, posture, and energy so you can guide students with clarity, steadiness, and responsive language.
Meridian theory and energetic pathways
Understand the energetic framework that underpins Yin Yoga, including meridian pathways, subtle body concepts, and how energetic awareness shapes the intention of a practice.
