Meet
Alison Réaume is a yoga teacher, teacher trainer, and lifelong student of the practice who is far more interested in what yoga can teach us than how impressive our poses look.
She has spent more than 17 years teaching yoga, working with students, and training teachers. Over that time, her own approach has continued to evolve, moving away from performance and prescribed ideas of what a practice should look like and toward curiosity, adaptability, somatic awareness, philosophy, and self-study.
That evolution is personal, too.
At 28, what was supposed to be a routine surgery to remove a tumour became a life-threatening emergency. Recovery changed Alison's relationship with her body and challenged many of the ways she had learned to push through, override, and measure progress.
It also changed the questions she brought to her yoga practice.
Rather than asking how to make a body conform to a pose, she became increasingly interested in how we can use the practice to pay attention. What do we notice? What choices are available to us? What happens when we stop searching for the “right” way and become curious about our own experience?
Those questions continue to shape how Alison teaches today.
Through weekly classes, workshops, retreats, 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, and continuing education for yoga teachers, she creates space to explore yoga as a much broader practice than asana alone.
Her teaching brings together movement, somatic awareness, breath, philosophy, self-study, and the lived experience of practicing yoga in a changing human body.
For students, that means less emphasis on achieving the perfect pose and more room to discover a practice that works for the person on the mat.
For teachers, it means learning to look beyond scripts and sequences and becoming more thoughtful about how we meet the actual people in front of us.
Because after all these years of teaching, Alison is still interested in the same thing: not how well we can perform yoga, but what we can learn by practicing it.

On and off the mat—
"Alison respected my way of doing things, while bringing in her own fantastic ideas, feedback and skills to the table."
"Alison was integral."
Alison is innovative, efficient, reliable, and a pleasure to work with! More importantly, if she saw something that looked off, or suggestions, she brought them forward (always nice to be working with someone who has your back).
—ZAHRA
"Someone who has your back."
Remembering when I followed my dream [of becoming a yoga teacher]. You changed my life, love you always.
—MEL
"You changed my life."
She taught me instead to “explore my edge” & really feel the benefits of slowing down which brought a totally new dimension to my practice. To “take what works & leave what doesn’t” is something that guides me everyday & every practice.

"Before Alison, I was all about 'push, push, push'."
