I recently had the joy of joining Wellness Wednesday on The Lotus Lounge Podcast for a deeply meaningful conversation about what it really means to live your yoga …. beyond the mat, beyond the poses, and into the everyday moments that shape who we are.
Hosted by Uma Alexandra Beepat, of The Lotus and The Light, The Lotus Lounge is known for its soulful conversations on mindfulness, spirituality, and personal growth. In our episode, Yoga Beyond the Mat, we explored how the ancient wisdom of yoga meets modern life, especially for teachers, entrepreneurs, and anyone seeking balance between doing and being.
So often, yoga is reduced to movement but the true practice is about how we breathe through the world.
In this episode, we unpacked how the philosophies of Abhyāsa (steady practice) and Vairāgya (non-attachment) show up in life and leadership.
We talked about:
What I love about this conversation is that it reflects what I teach every day, that yoga isn’t separate from life. It’s the thread that runs through everything: the breath you take before sending an email, the pause before responding, the awareness you bring into your morning coffee.
When we stop treating yoga as something we do and start embracing it as something we live, everything changes.
Our businesses become extensions of our values.
Our schedules become reflections of our energy.
Our systems, whether in work or at home, start to feel like containers for freedom rather than cages of control.
This is the essence of a nervous-system-friendly approach to life and leadership: building from awareness, not adrenaline. It’s how I approach both my yoga teaching and my work as a Whole Human Fractional COO, helping others design systems and structures that breathe, so they can live and lead with clarity and ease.
If this resonates with you, I’d love for you to tune in:
I’m so grateful to Uma and The Lotus Lounge community for holding space for this dialogue.
It reminded me that yoga and life, are continuous practices of remembering who we are.
Whether you’re a teacher, leader, or seeker, may this conversation invite you to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the essence of why you began your practice in the first place.
Because the most profound transformation doesn’t happen on the mat, it unfolds in how you live once you leave it. 🌸
